HOLLYWOOD, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 04/26/16 --
NV5 Global, Inc. (the "Company" or "NV5")
(NASDAQ: NVEE), a provider of professional and technical engineering and consulting solutions, announced today that it has completed master planning services for the Old City District of Philadelphia, known as America's most historic square mile. The contract was won by the Planning and Urban Design Team at RBA/NV5 and included collaboration with the Company's landscape architecture and transportation engineering divisions.
"In anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we named the plan Vision2026," said Mark Keener, AIA, AICP, Director of Urban Design at NV5.
Vision2026 was recently featured in a Philadelphia Inquirer article by Pulitzer Prize winning architecture critic Inga Saffron. Saffron called RBA/NV5's plan to support economic development by focusing on quality of life and the human scale "a profound shift in thinking," and Ian Litwin, Central District Planner for the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, said the plan was "visionary, yet achievable in incremental steps."
"Old City is home to Independence Hall and the American Revolution, and today, is rediscovering itself as a hub of creativity, innovation, and downtown living," continued NV5 Project Manager Jonas Maciunas, AICP. "Vison2026 charts a course to continued economic development by defining how density can be accommodated without compromising historic character, shifting transportation priorities in favor of walkable urbanism, and identifying opportunities for world-class civic space in America's first World Heritage City."
"We are so proud of the innovative work our Infrastructure team is doing all over the United States," said NV5 Chairman and CEO, Dickerson Wright, PE. "The highly acclaimed work we recently completed in Philadelphia exemplifies the ability of our experts to not only provide their clients the highest quality of services, but to transcend expectations in their field and improve communities."
About Old City District
Old City Philadelphia is America's most historic square mile and is perhaps best known as the site of Independence Hall and the iconic Liberty Bell. The mission of Old City District is to improve Philadelphia's historic district as a place for people to meet, work, shop and live, by supplementing municipal services with maintenance, public safety, economic development and promotional programs. Old City District (OCD) was established by ordinance of Philadelphia City Council in 1998, with the support of the commercial property owners within its boundaries, and in accordance with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Municipality Authorities Act of 1945. In November 2002, the City of Philadelphia authorized a 20-year extension, through 2022. Now in its 17th year, this public-private partnership continues to maintain and improve the dynamic Old City neighborhood. OCD supplements, rather than replaces, the services of the municipal government, helping businesses be successful, visitors to enjoy their experience here and residents to maintain a high quality of life.
